Brag Post

Yes, this is a post just to brag on Fritz! He has been the smartest puppy. He has had one accident in the house since he came home! It was entirely my fault, he went to the door; I was talking to someone; he just couldn't wait anymore. One accident in a week and a half, I'll take it! He has slept through the night for the last 5 nights, this one made me very happy! He sits consistently when I use the hand sign for sit. He sits and waits for his food bowl. He comes up the back porch stairs by himself, he started doing this yesterday. If I could just teach him that he is not a piranha, everything would be perfect! I know eventually he'll keep those baby teeth to himself, but I sure wish it would be sooner rather than later. He goes back to the vet for shots on Thursday, I'll let you know how it goes.

The Family that Sings Together

First, I want to tell you that Fritz's vet visit went great! He is seven weeks old and weighs 6 pounds! Our vet just loved him and thought he was beautiful. Second, today when I was singing to Fritz our Umbrella Cockatoo started to sing with me. Since he knows less of the words than I do he just added some "waas" and some longer "waaaaas." He was almost in tune and Fritz didn't seem to mind so it was all good. Who knows, maybe we'll all learn the words before Fritz doesn't need us to sing them anymore.

Sing a Little Song

Yesterday I took Fritz for his first vet visit! He is such a sweet boy that I forgot he is a baby who is not used to riding in a crate in a car. Before we are even off our road he is howling and screaming like someone is killing him! I am trying to decide if my "up every two hours every night since Friday" mind can handle a 45 minute trip listening to this lovely noise when I remember that his breeder Stacy sings to her babies. I listen to a lot of different types of music so my mind is skimming over all the song I know! I doubt she sings Metallica or Guns & Roses to them. I know some country, but that doesn't seem right either. Show tunes; no. Kid's songs; closer. I know, I'll sing "This Little Light of Mine!" Everyone knows that song. No, everyone DOES NOT know that song! I know the chorus, that's it. I decide since I've been a singer I can add in a few "ohs" and "ahs," besides I doubt Fritz knows the words. Thank goodness I was right; he never even noticed that I just sang the chorus over and over. After the first time through he sat down, stopped crying, and looked at me. After the second time he curled up. By the end of the third he was asleep. At least I hope he was really asleep and not just pretending so I would stop singing. Either way thank you Stacy for telling us you sing to them before they come home to us. It works every time I put him in his crate! Oh, and if any of you know the words to "This Little Light of Mine" will you sent them too me?

My Guy

I would like to introduce you to my guy. His name is Fritz and he's short, a red head, and much younger than me. Ok, he's also a Standard Poodle; my first Standard Poodle. He's the first male dog I've had in a long while. Not sure what I was thinking! I have a feeling with Fritz, three parrots, Nafia our Rhodesian Ridgeback, a grandpuppy named Roxy, and various two legged loved ones that it's going to be one heck of a story, so we thought we would share our misadventures with you.
